Clinton. "I understand that there has been, throughout this campaign, something of a double standard. I accept it; I live with it."

Does it exist or was she playing the sexist/victim card again?
What "double standard" was Hillary referring to on NPR talk radio earlier?
You really don't see it? Seriously?!?!
I don't support her but it's pathetically true. I'll have to dig up a link but an independent study found that something like 80% of Obama news was favorable meanwhile more than half of Clinton's was negative. That's not because Clinton had more negative, it's because Obama got far less scrutiny.
Bill Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro made factual-based comment and were quickly labeled racists by members of the Obama campaign as well as some media. Not once did the media or the Clinton camp call Obama a racist for his "typical white person" comment -- a comment that would have cost someone their political career had they said "black person" instead.
I recall hearing a month or more ago that her list of foreign relations experience were all lies. Media outlets including The Washington Post did a "fact check" on it and agreed much of it was exaggerated. CNN did a followup story and verified (with Dems and Republicans) that virtually everything was true except they could not verify the Bosnia story (sniper fire). For weeks now I've heard about her "LIE" about Bosnia. However, Senator Obama has blatently lied numerous times in speeches including claiming his father was able to come to America due to Kennedy (his dad was here before Kennedy took office) and that his parents had the courage to marry and have a child thanks to the march in Selma (Barack was 4 yrs old when Selma happened). Not a word was mentioned by anyone. He said he never heard his pastor say anything he didn't agree with in interviews and said he did hear things in his speech. Again, not a word -- at least nothing more than a whisper.
The Obama campaign and his supporters have been screaming she needs to drop out because "she can't win" and they've done it so much and so loud that stories are being aired or printed that say there's a "outcry for her to drop out" without ever mentioning that it comes from Obama -- nor does it mention that he cannot win. Neither one can win anymore.
This type of sad, biased journalism drives or kills campaigns and regardless of whether Senator Obama is or isn't more qualified, if he's nominated he can thank the press because they helped him get his lead and keep it.
I guess the idea of keeping it "balanced" in news was doing the same type of thing to Republicans like Ron Paul. So yes, there's a double-standard -- a pretty obvious one if you get news from places other than CNN, MSNBC or Fox.
Reply:I guess she thinks that pointing out the truth is somehow a double standard against her.
Jackie: When I tuned in to cable news a short time ago, it was all about "Obama's racist pastor." Nothing much about Hillary!
Reply:There are a lot of double standards in our society. As a woman, she's benefitted from some of them, and run afoul of others. There's the double-standard based on race that Obama has benefitted from, too.
So, yes, it could one of those she's refering to, and just a matter of playing the gender card and/or objecting to the race card.
I think there's more to it, though. It seem to me that the media has made an unconsious collective judgment in favor of Obama and against Hillary, and there's a double-standard that's just aplied on the two of them, personally.
Reply:Oh Chi Guy, oh my, you have GOT to be kidding. I know ya hate my girl Hill, but come on. Is there any way that you can deny that Obama can play the race card without any repercussions, but if Hillary even dares to mention the obvious double standard people are screaming Off With Her Head! by God she's playing the gender card again? Let's just ignore that there is clearly gender bias going on and has been since the beginning of this campaign just so we can hang her in the Town Square and have a party. Yes, it EXISTS, and any woman who has a connection to reality in this country knows it because she's been living it all of her life.
ACK!
Reply:Did you see the "Saturday Night Live" skit where they had a debate between her %26amp; Obama %26amp; they asked him if he wanted any pillows so he could be more comfortable. It was a funny exaggeration of what she must feel is true. Our society is always that way. If Brad Pitt would enter the race the rest of the candidates wouldn't get any attention again. We like good looks, youth, charisma. She is a 60 year old women who has been in the news for years so people push her to the side to see %26amp; hear Obama.
Reply:She's right. The sexism is the United States is evident. Pointing that out has nothing to do with playing a card. It's reality
It's pretty sad and sickening the way Hillary is treated specially by so called "liberals". Weak immature bunch fainting over Obama, a one term senator who's only claim to the white house are pretty words while barely hiding their outright sexism, not very impressive the liberal establishment.
If Obama was called the N word by part of the liberal blogs and establishment no one would question their racism but when Hillary is called every foul degrading name for a woman the sexism is a question? I don't think so
Reply:I feel the media has been especially harsh and critical with her. Conversely they have fawned all over Obama.
I don't know if it's sexist or what it is but it is something. It's too bad too because she really would be an excellent president but it doesn't look like she's going to get the chance.
I think she was simply making the statement that she was aware of it and she would deal with it the best she could.
