she says that women are equal to men and that applies to her. However she cried and none of the male candidates cried and she always use the female card when attacked by everyone else but obama has never used the race card.
Does Hillary Clinton contradict herself about gender equality?
Only if and when it is politically convenient.
Reply:So, if she cries or gets emotional, she's pulling the "girl card," but then how do explain when men have cried? No, I am not saying any of the current men running have cried on camera, but some male politicians and cops have been known to cry on camera. What "card" are they pulling?
And I have to say that I haven't heard her play the gender card. In fact, I was watching the news last night - CNN, MSNBC, some late night news, not sure - and they were discussing the fact that although it would be easy to do, Clinton has not played up the gender thing nor has Obama played up the race thing.
Samantha - Thank you! I saw that piece of footage, and then thought I didn't see it all when everyone talked about her crying. I thought I only saw the beginning until I realized everyone was calling it crying when it wasn't quite.
Reply:Right. So now everyone in the world has to have some kind of sociopathic control over their emotions just to please you?
People cry. It's a basic biological function, just like peeing.
Get over it.
Reply:When has this woman not contradicted herself?
Reply:"She always use the female card when attacked by everyone else"?
What is your source?
I don't ever remember seeing her duck an issue because of her gender, nor has she used it as an excuse. She has pointed out other people being sexist.
Reply:Obama will use the race card. Mark my words.
Reply:In an interview the evening before her pseudo [NON-SELFISH (((((I'M gonna be a loser))))) choke-up / heart felt moment] tears... Hillary explained that she had it in her to cry.
You people have to listen to her and Bill better.
When they speak YOU NEED TO LISTEN!
They drop more clues than drunk goose on Exlax.
Reply:Romney had tears in his eyes when talking about if his children were in the military and didn't make it home.
I don't support her but I don't care if candidates eyes tear, they cry etc.
Most candidates sound like 5 year olds anyway.
example: The other person did bad things then the other candidate says not me it was them..... blah, blah, blah
Reply:Hillary will contradict herself as much, and as many times, as is necessary to achieve her selfish agenda.
Reply:1. Hillary Clinton didn't cry. She got choked up. There is a difference. You should see the video rather than repeat some ignorant rumor.
2. Gee, I seem to remember Mitt Romney crying. At least Hillary got choked up over something that really happened.
Reply:Well, all the sexist bigot s were criticizing Hillary because she was"cold." Now that she showed some emotion, they are criticizing her for that. And (I saw the video) LYING when they say she cried-she did not.
These same bigots accuse Obama of using race--except when they think its convenient not to. But its true he hasn't--nor has Hillary said or done anyting to jsutify the accusation that she expects different treatment because she is a woman.
Reply:Yes Frequently. You can't be a feminist and raise to power based on your husbands successes.
Reply:Clearly not. Hillary is one of the few candidates (if any) with true integrity. By pointing something out so mundane and nonchalant one may suggest your a chavinistic person. Truly disgusting. Bless Hillary, truly a great American!
Reply:Poor, Poor, Hillary Just so misunderstood. Yeah right? She knows what she doing .So watch out Obama and whoever wins the GOP nomination., be ready for the war of the Clinton machine. No telling what she will come up with next, and get by with it at that. Amazing Woman, that Hillary.!!!
Reply:I think your question misses what's important. I don't have any problem at all with a woman (or man) candidate crying! Quite the contrary -- especially with that woman -- I'd *like* to see some emotion -- other than what seems like constant, barely-disguised *anger*... sheesh, it's tiring! Something that tells me she's well-rounded, mentally stable and likable! After all, the president has to deal with a lot of other people, and will represent us around the world. We don't need someone else who is so disliked as Bush seems to be.
But am I the only person (except possibly the last answerer, whose bracketed comments weren't quite decipherable) who wonders if that emotional display of hers was even real?? I haven't seen any pundits or reporters question it, either.
As a couple other posters said, she didn't cry. But I wonder whether she was really even choked up. I freely admit it may be a reflection of my distrust in her, but I'm a pretty good judge of people and I wasn't convinced. It could easily have been her people telling her to show some emotion for a change. (If so, it certainly may have helped, judging from the results.)
Having expressed my doubt, there was a part of me that wanted to believe it was genuine, and that part was *impressed* by that rare glimpse through the facade -- to the human inside. For a moment she seemed likable, and real.
By the way, it's not just men being "sexist bigots" as one poster said. For one thing, the same issue is one of my complaints about Bush, as well... his range of emotion is from defensive to clownishly happy and back. For another thing, surely there are plenty of women who can relate to what I'm saying! For decades, women have longed and complained for signs of "soft" emotion from some men. Sure, I want the president to have "tough" as part of his/her makeup. But I want to see *other* emotions too. And for the record... crying is not a sign of weakness!
Finally, I just don't see what this one instance of supposed choking up has to do with gender equality -- nor what Obama has to do with any of it. I'm not saying she doesn't sometimes use the sexism card, but if her emotion was real, there's nothing inherently "unequal" about that.
Reply:Bush cried, isn't that equal enough? Our current president cries all the time, and Hillary got emotional (not really cried), so it's equal.
Reply:Hillary will do anything and say anything to win. ANYTHING! She is a liar and a hypocrite. Her husband sexually harassed and abused women throughout their marriage including inside the oval office of the White House, and she looked the other way. Why? She needs his coattails. She would not be where she is if it wasn't for him. She is a weak coward and God help us if she is ever elected.
Barack can't use the "race card" because his mother was a white woman. His black father abandoned him when he was a child. He could use the mulatto card, however.
Reply:Of course. How many of the male candidates have relied on their wives experiences to climb the political ladder?
